About the PoliceOne Academy Team
Alex Ford, CEO
As CEO, Alex oversees the PoliceOne Academy. As co-founder of Praetorian Digital, Alex has been developing websites and online technology for law enforcement & public safety for the past twelve years. He is highly committed to providing the information and tools first responders need to better protect their communities and come home safely at the end of the day. Alex is widely recognized as one of the leading minds in bringing online technology to the challenges first responders face on a day to day basis. He has also served as the primary product architect behind PoliceOne.com, Blutube.com, PoliceGrantsHelp.com, the PoliceOne Academy and the numerous other public safety websites that Praetorian has created. His leadership has resulted in Praetorian being named the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 small business of the year.
Nicole Forzano, Director
Nicole Forzano oversees all processes of content development for the PoliceOne Academy and works with state accrediting bodies to certify Praetorian Digital online training for law enforcement continuing education credits. Nicole is heavily involved in the development phase, working with the Training Coordinator, Advisory Board, and all members of the Content & Curriculum Development Team to assure quality content is produced and updated consistently. Nicole has extensive background producing video and online training for Law Enforcement. Previously, she was a project manager with Digital OutPost Inc. in California and oversaw the development of 40+ two-hour law enforcement training videos for the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (CalPOST) telecourse program, as well as numerous grant video projects and two volumes of mandated training video packages. Nicole earned her Bachelor of Arts, Mass Communication from California State University Hayward.
Barbara Harris, Lead Curriculum Designer
As a Lead Curriculum Designer, Barbara (Barb) Harris authors content and objectives and builds lesson plans and tests for Praetorian Digital short format online training. As a 30 year veteran police officer, Barb has worked in almost every law enforcement capacity and type of agency. She began her career at the Tucson Police Department working as a dispatcher, officer, detective and sergeant. She then moved to Missouri and became the Chief Deputy at the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. When her family relocated to Illinois, Barb became an Academy Training Instructor and Community Policing Liaison for the Illinois State Police. After moving back to Arizona, Barb became the Commander and Interim Chief at Pima Community College Department of Public Safety, then retired as an Assistant Chief of the Marana (AZ) PD in 2009. Barb has been a certified police instructor and curriculum development specialist for over twenty-five years, teaching courses in Critical Incident Response, Career Survival, Recruiting and Retaining Quality Employees, Defensive Tactics, Community Policing, and Physical Fitness. She is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Staff and Command, the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Program and the Southwest Command College.
Ethan Fernandez, Instructional Designer
Ethan Fernandez develops and enhances courses for the PoliceOne Academy, LocalGovU and FireRescue1 Academy. He also maintains the video and course library and assists with the continued development of the Academy. Ethan has 14 years of experience in the training field as a trainer, training manager, and instructional designer. He has worked with the state of North Carolina Office of Medicaid Management developing training modules, both instructor-led and e-learning. He is a graduate of the University of Texas San Antonio where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Terry Robbins, Account Manager
As an account manager at PoliceOne Academy, Terry trains, responds to and manages clients nationwide as they utilize the PoliceOne Academy. He has an extensive background in global account management, sales, and business growth. Terry is a veteran with 4 years military service and was stationed at Arlington National Cemetery.
Lawson Coke, Video Production Manager
Lawson’s primary role is to manage and produce video content for the PoliceOne Academy. He works directly with the PoliceOne team to help develop content and bring those topics from script to screen. Lawson has had extensive experience working with law enforcement agencies and has a strong background in educational video production. All of the video for the PoliceOne Academy is shot in high definition and care is taken to provide the highest standards in video production and quality. Lawson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with an emphasis in Broadcasting and Cinematography from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Angelica Sartorato, Senior Video Editor
As Senior Video Editor, Angelica edits and produces training videos for PoliceOne Academy. In this role, she receives the raw footage and turns it into a final video. Her responsibilities include selecting and organizing the best takes in a logical and concise manner, adding additional footage – b-roll – to enhance and emphasize the training points of the videos. In addition she creates graphics, adjusts the audio and selects the soundtrack. Other responsibilities include converting, compressing and uploading final videos for distribution on the web. In 2011 and 2012, Angelica was awarded with two Telly Awards in the editing category for “The Will to Win: Jared Reston” and “The Will to Win: Jim Van Alstine”. Angelica earned her Bachelor of Arts, Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts from San Francisco State University.
